Abstract

As one of the more unique genres of modern theatre, the aesthetic value of existentialist theatre has been focused on the philosophical nature of the work, while its artistic value as a theatre art has long been overlooked. This essay attempts to analyse the reasons for the misinterpretation of existentialist theatre through the history of criticism of existentialist theatre, as well as to make a preliminary investigation of the artistic value inherent in existentialist theatre.
